What we're looking for
As a Java/JEE Developer, you will be expected to take a software delivery role in full software development lifecycle, from the analysis of business requirements through the design, build, test and deployment of a system.
Successful applicants will be assigned to exciting projects, pushing the boundaries of web technology in different applicable industries.
Responsibilities and skills include
• Designing robust application architectures (e.g. 3-Tier, n-Tier) in the Unified Modeling Language (UML), leveraging industry standard design patterns (e.g. Gang Of Four, JEE/J2EE Blueprints) and Object Oriented (OO) design techniques
• Developing enterprise business components to be deployed on JEE/J2EE Application Servers (e.g. Websphere, JBoss, Glassfish, BEA WebLogic) using technologies including EJB, Web Services, JSP, JMS, XML, JPA, JTS and related frameworks (e.g. Spring, Struts)
• Writing robust, maintainable code using leading IDEs (e.g. Eclipse, NetBeans) following defined coding standards and using enterprise configuration management tools (e.g. IBM Rational Clearcase, CVS, Subversion) and processes
• Designing and implementing enterprise data models for relational databases (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, IBM DB2, MySQL) and manipulating data and data schemas using SQL
• Designing and implementing application persistence layers, including custom Data Access Objects (DAO) based on JDBC and Object Relation Mapping (ORM) tools (e.g. Hibernate, Oracle TopLink)
• Ensuring software quality through formal testing phases, including Unit Testing, Assembly/Integration Testing, System/Product Testing, Non-Functional Requirements Testing and User Acceptance Testing using automated testing frameworks like JUnit
• Continuous integration of developed code using technologies and tools like Ant, Maven, CruiseControl and Hudson
• Team working within a structured development environment following "waterfall" and "iterative" (e.g. RUP, Agile, Scrum) development methodologies
Skills / Experience Required include
• A good technical degree
• 2 to 4 years relevant experience
• Proven success in contributing to a team-orientated environment
• Proven abilities to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
• Experience on projects across a variety of industry sectors
• Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
